Our Story

Paulette is a native of Illinois and graduated from the University of Illinois (Urbana-Champaign) with a B.F.A. degree in French. After a year abroad in Paris, she earned her M.A. degree in Teaching. An unexpected job offer led her to Arizona in 1975 where she taught French and was involved in the Orme School's challenging outdoor survival program. She acquired, along with her students, a new set of skills that have been invaluable in personal life as well as in business. She later worked for a French real estate brokerage in Scottsdale, AZ and became a licensed real estate agent and, a few years later, acquired her broker's license. She co-founded The Argus Real Estate Company in 1981 with partner Bob Vandercook and actively continues to be the President and Associate Broker.

Outside of the office, Paulette enjoys a challenging game of golf, a good glass of wine, exotic and ethnic cuisines, exploring all that Arizona has to offer and daily walks with her Shetland Sheepdog, Brody.

Steven is originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico and has lived in Illinois, Texas and Arizona. His family has always owned real estate investments and he grew up being intimately involved with them. Having worked for a Fortune 100 insurance company, he spent many years evaluating risk and understanding operational workflow, both skills being a foundation for success in real estate investment and management. Steven has lived in Arizona since 2003. He joined The Argus Real Estate Company in 2007 and became a Licensed Broker in 2011 and a Designated Broker in 2020. He has been personally trained and mentored by Company founders, Paulette Pelc and Bob Vandercook. He has enjoyed many successes along with the Company's clients, from helping new investors to hand-picking hundreds of properties for investment groups.

When not working, Steven enjoys snowboarding, mountain biking and water skiing.

John was born and raised in Phoenix. As the son of Argus Real Estate Company’s founders, John was able to learn about real estate investment and management starting from a very young age. John spent a decade working in luxury resorts in various capacities which helped him learn top-notch service, organization and problem-solving skills and his perseverance enables him to see the goal and stay the course until the desired results are achieved. With an upbringing surrounded by real estate investment, a desire to make challenging projects come together and experience working in high-stress and fast-paced environments he was able to bring a unique skillset to The Argus Real Estate Company when he joined the company in 2013.

In John’s personal time he loves traveling, cooking and barbecuing and is an avid road cyclist and mountain biker.
